All donations are tax deductible. Placer Nature Center is a nonprofit agency
under Section 501© (3) of the IRS code.

Different Types of Donations

Gifts may be made in memory of or in honor of a loved one or friend. Gifts can be left for unrestricted Nature Center applications or designated for any of our programs, including but not limited to: Native American programming, bat conservation, watershed education, for exhibit development, our bee hive, facility maintenance, Center operations and staff or any other number of needs.

Unrestricted gifts offer us the flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most and will have the biggest impact, giving our administrators the latitude to take advantage of unexpected opportunities and to act quickly. An unrestricted gift can still be designated; that is, to be directed to a particular program or focus, and still be considered unrestricted.

Donation of stock, life insurance policies, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities or a charitable bequest in a will or trust can be accepted. To find out how to include Placer Nature Center in your will, please see the Leave a Legacy section below.

Leave a Legacy Through Planned Giving

Planned gifts allow you to increase income, save taxes, avoid the management burden of certain assets and leave portions of your wealth to causes you believe in and "make a big difference," perhaps in perpetuity. People from all walks of life can benefit by making gifts from their estates to the Nature Center. By supporting the Placer Nature Center Endowment through a legacy gift, you will ensure Placer Nature Center's future while enjoying estate tax savings.

Deferred gifts qualify as charitable contributions and are deductible under income, gift and estate tax laws. In addition, deferred gifts of assets that have increased in value may offer the opportunity to reduce or eliminate capital gains tax. For some of us, tax benefits may be a significant incentive to making a deferred gift to PNC. Additionally, deferred gifts are the key to maintaining excellence and growth in our science and environmental education programs!

Leave a Legacy is a community-wide marketing effort with the goal to increase gift planning (deferred gifts) and charitable bequests by the general public. Placer Nature Center maintains an endowment account at Merrill Lynch. Donations of appreciated stock are quite simply accepted via computer transactions. Gifts of property, cash or other donation may require assistance of your family attorney. Please check with your attorney or contact Placer Nature Center to discuss giving options and before finalizing any deferred gift.

Donate a Car or Other Vehicle

We have teamed up with Cars 4 Causes®, a nonprofit, to accept cars or other vehicles as donations. We chose Cars 4 Causes® because of their good work. Cars 4 Causes® originated out of a desire to help fund youth education. All donated vehicles go through a stringent screening process. Any that are uneconomical to repair, cannot meet smog requirements, and just cannot be upgraded into affordable transportation get recycled! They also use the donated cars in other programs such as the Affordable Transportation Program which provides inexpensive transportation to those in need. Utility vehicles get donated to community charities and certain struggling families can even receive cars at no cost. When you donate a vehicle, 70% of the proceeds goes to Placer Nature Center and 30% goes to Cars 4 Causes® to help support their programs. From paper clips to computers, the following items would be greatly appreciated and put to work right away! The majority of our funds goes to our child development and environmental programs, leaving little for administration and supplies.

hand drill with reverse function (either with or without cord)
new Keyed Lever door handles for all exhibit hall doors (total of 6)
outside bricks or pavers to create barrier around buildings to discourage burrowing squirrels

If you can't drive out to the nature center to drop-off your in-kind donation, items no larger than a couple large garbage bags can be dropped off Monday-Friday from 9AM-5PM at 49er Printing & Copy Center at 11806 Kemper Rd, Auburn, CA 95603 Google Map
